Alpha Marine supports Dun Laoghaire Baths Redevelopment
Alpha Marine's tug Husky has been retained to assist the Rock Dumping Barge Selina at the €10 million Euro Dun Laoghaire Baths redevelopment. Apart from restoring the original Victorian building on site, a new pedestrian walkway is being built between Newtownsmith and the East Pier aswell as a new jetty for small craft.
Husky with another tug, the MTS Indus has been moving the 6,000 tonne barge Selina into place so that her excavators can dump the rocks on the foreshore. The rocks, some as large as 6 tonnes, are then moved into place to act as rock armour so that the new jetty is protected from rough weather.
